During a recent trip to Washington D.C., I decided to visit the Jefferson Memorial. I wanted good light, so we waited until late in the afternoon to visit. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to find hundreds of visitors to the Memorial at that time of day. So, photographing the entire Memorial was out of the question. Consequently, I concentrated on the details. Due to the number of people around the bottom of the columns, I could not take photos of entire columns. I was also unimpressed with partial pictures of the column capitals in a vertical format. So, I decided to turn the camera to capture the column capitals, the Washington Monument, and yet avoid the people at the bottom of the columns.
